It took me a while to get around to the shots from No Kings 2025. There’s something to be said about living in a city like DC, which puts me right at the doorstep to a lot of public action, protest, and rallies. There’s always so much more going on in the city than so many of us can keep up with. But it’s a great city to be in with a camera (like every other one in the world).

One of the things that struck me the most about No Kings was the joyful atmosphere. Despite the gravity of the subject, people danced, laughed, and sang in the face of tyranny, oppression, and fear. It was a great reminder that having fun is important, and that joy itself can be an act of resistance.
